Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, EU

Position: Researcher, Department of Surface and Plasma Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic

Specialization: Hydrogen technologies

At the NANOCON´23 conference Dr. Peter Kúš will present the lecture “Thin-film catalysts for hydrogen economy” in Session A.

Personal Background and Education:
Dr. Peter Kúš received his MSc. in Physics of Surfaces and Ionized Media from Charles University, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics (Czech Republic) in 2013 and later in 2018 obtained his Ph.D. in Physics of Surfaces and Interfaces from the same university. During his doctoral studies, he was awarded the ICGS fellowship and spent 5 months at the National Institute for Materials Science in Tsukuba, Japan. His doctoral thesis “Thin-film catalysts for proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers and unitized regenerative fuel cells” was published within the book series Springer theses - Recognizing Outstanding Ph.D. Research. Currently, he holds a scientific academic position (from 2021) at the Department of Surface and Plasma Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University and supports international users at the Surface Physics Laboratory – Hydrogen Technology Center in Prague.

Research interests:
Dr. Peter Kúš specializes on the preparation and characterization of nanostructured catalysts for proton-exchange membrane fuel cells and water electrolyzers. His research revolves around thin-film active materials prepared by multitarget magnetron sputtering. Currently, Dr. Kúš is involved in several fundamentally as well as application-oriented projects focusing on developing and utilization of operando methods for complex characterization of catalysts during the course of electrochemical reaction.
